After experiencing the throws of perimenopause while I was postpartum, maintaining my level of training was impossible. I was burned out, facing crippling anxiety & depression, and gained 40 pounds as a result.
Like a lot of women, finding themselves wanting to lose weight, I found myself in a pit of a diet culture spiral.
I did all of the things to lose weight and you know what?
My perimenopause symptoms became worse.
Through My Midlife Muscle approach, I stopped cutting calories and started feulling my body with all of the good stuff like proteins, carbs, and fats.
YES! We need carbs AND fats in our diets too.
Within a few weeks, my sleep and mood started to improved. This gave me the confidence to start training again.
By focusing on building muscle, my perimenopuse symptoms also improved. With fewer heat flushes and a better mood, life felt worth living again!
Now back to training 3-5 times a week, my body composition is changing without the need to force it.
